Process

Moen’s Showroom in the Merchandise Mart stands out as a picture of elegance through simplicity. To bring additional life and interactivity to the room, architects Media Objectives commissioned NEXT/NOW to create 3D retail projection mapping inspired by flowing water, drops of rainwater, and their greatest achievement, the invention of a single hot/water faucet.

Discreet motion sensors were placed throughout the room, that trigger ripples throughout the piece. This creates a subtle use of interactivity that the sales reps use as a conversation piece to engage customers. Once patrons discover the motion tracking, they begin moving through the room to see what else they can control. Leading designers in the shower industry, Moen, wanted to make a powerful impression with its latest interactive and fully automated shower system, the U by Moen. Featuring multiple heads, temperature control, timers, an in-shower control panel, and a phone app, Moen needed an equally interactive and engaging way to demonstrate this system to users, minus, of course, the whole getting wet part. This the Moen “Virtual Shower” Interactive Retail Kiosk was born.

NEXT/NOW created a fully functioning touch screen interactive retail kiosk experience that allowed for a virtual shower experience while providing information, instructions, and relevant stats, letting users play with the controls and truly see what the system is fully capable of without having to step inside. A hit at CES, the Moen Shower Experience is now in over 300 showrooms globally.
